Jellyfin Plugins: Run Now and More

Andy Morrell ·

Both Jellyfin plugins got an update this week, and the main addition is something I kept wanting myself: a Run Now button.

Previously, the Missing Episodes report and the Specials Filter both ran automatically after a library scan. That is fine for day-to-day use, but if you have just added a bunch of shows and want to see the updated state immediately, waiting for a scheduled scan is annoying. The Run Now button in the dashboard lets you trigger either plugin manually, whenever you want.

It sounds small, but it was the thing I noticed most in my own usage. Every time I added new content I would find myself waiting unnecessarily. Having the button there makes the plugins feel more responsive and less like background processes you just have to trust.

Alongside that, there are a few smaller fixes and some tidying up of the UI in both plugins. Nothing dramatic, just the kind of polish that comes from actually using something regularly and noticing what is rough.

Both plugins are available through the Jellyfin plugin catalogue. If you installed them when they first came out, the update should come through automatically.
